22 Years of Double Image and Counting!

2024 has been a year of change, planning and celebration for me! At the end of October, Double Image was 22 years old. It certainly doesn’t feel like I’ve been running my photography business for that long and it’s the longest I’ve been in one job.

This milestone led to me reflect on the world of photography and how things have changed since I opened my Beeston studio way back in 2002.

The main change for me (and one of the most challenging!) was the shift from using film cameras to digital and all that went with it; closing my darkroom, not having to buy any film, upgrading my computers, buying and learning how to use a digital camera and all the quirks that went with that technology.  Cameras and photography technology has evolved and improved so much and is still constantly changing.

I kept my film camera kit and one day I am going to get my film camera out and have a play. It’s such a different way of working and I have a real nostalgia for the industry back in the day.

Since I took the big step into being fully digital in 2007, digital photography has moved so fast it’s sometimes hard for a traditionalist like me to keep up! I’ve had to adapt to spending many hours on the computer, get my head around the challenges of file sizes, storage, security and ever-changing software.  Now, with AI coming into so many aspects of our lives, new editing software to assist photographers is flooding onto the market and is another new thing for me to explore and embrace. So long as it can do what I need without leaving people looking like cartoon characters, I will be happy!

In the 22nd year of my portrait business, it’s only fitting that I launch my new website! I’m so happy with it, how it works, the look and feel of it – it was definitely due for an update. Amongst the many changes, I have carefully put together some fixed price portrait collections so you can decide before you book what you would like and how much you will spend. Don’t worry, there is still a bespoke option to buy a session and then choose your products and I am always happy to discuss your ideas and requirements before you book.

I hope you like my new website and I will really look forward to seeing you in 2025 and beyond!

Finally, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all my clients, new and old, who really are the ones who make this job so much fun and such a rewarding and interesting profession.
