The advent of summer sees many of us jetting off on sunny getaways. At Double Image Photography we know the importance of capturing each moment.  Whether you’re going to Spain or Skegness, we hope you’ll like our helpful hints for your holiday photography:

  • Don’t forget to pack extra batteries and your memory cards.
  • Cameras are precious things. We fully support snapping away on the beach but be sure to keep your equipment away from sand and sea!
  • When taking a photo of a person or group of people, position them out of the sun and into a shady spot. This results in far more flattering photographs and people won’t be squinting in the sunshine!
  • If there’s no shade available (lucky you!) try using the flash to reduce shadows for people photos taken in bright sunshine.
  • Get creative! Aim to include some adventurous photos in your holiday album alongside the landscape shots and family snaps.
  • When you’ve landed back in rainy England, don’t leave your camera lying around in a draw. Remember to download your photographs so you can enjoy them and reminisce.

We’d love to see your holiday snaps – tweet us @PhilippaDouble so we can be nosy!

I recently had the honour of photographing Carolyn and Jamie’s wedding, which took place on 4th June at St Mary’s Church in Attenborough. It was a magical day and I am delighted to share some of the details and photographs with you in this week’s blog post.

Following the marriage service at St Mary’s Church, there was a celebratory reception at Colwick Hall Ballroom, the perfect setting for Carolyn and Jamie’s special day. Not to be outshone by the ethereal scenery, Carolyn made for a beautiful bride with her wedding dress and hair accessory from The Wedding Room. To offset her ensemble she held a stunning bouquet, with the flower arrangements also by The Wedding Room. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were perfectly coordinated with blue dresses and ties – this attention to the little details really came together beautifully at the wedding.

It was a joyful occasion and a pleasure to photograph. So without further ‘I do’, here are some handpicked moments from the memorable event:
